Well, you can't fault someone for making the bike fit them WITHIN REASON. A salsa stem is probably NOT the best choice in terms of the classic look.

If you need rise, a Nitto Technomic Deluxe serves nicely while preserving the classic look of a cold-forged aluminum stem and the "correct" stem angle. :)

It may not be period correct, but it's in the spirit of things.
