Subject: [CR]That expensive Malvern Star track frame

Ten days or so ago I managed to get along to the Lancashire and Scottish Bike Jumble, which is a twice-a-year jumble, that proves very popular with the northern collectors in the UK. In the bar of the pub over a beer and a sandwich or two - or should that be the other way around - one of the VCC members asked me to help three old frames that he had been given by his 92 year old neighbour. All, he said, were in pretty grotty condition, All were still at his home.. so I couldn't see them.

His description of a track frame with three unusual stars brazed on to the head -tube, was easily recognised as a Malvern Star. A few days later I chanced to notice the exemplary one as it made its entrance into the bidding lists of Ebay. Well that is some frame, some spray job.. and what decals.!!

I reckon the VCC member will have to pay out a lot of cash to his local spray shop to bring his rusty iron up to the standard of the Ebay example.. but it might be worth the expense in the end, .

Norris Lockly.. wondering if it's my size.. Settle UK
