Why would a scammer ask if a listed bike is your personal property, and seemingly want to avoid a questionable transaction? Perhaps it's an attempt to boost their credibility and gain your confidence.

Pete: It's all part of the confusion tactics of the scam - trying to make you think he's legit (kinda weak, if you ask me, but then, we're not talking about the sharpest tools in the shed, as it were...). I find these oh-so-predictable scam e-mails rather amusing at this point. I think the spoof ones present more of a real threat, in general, becasue they look official. Remember folks, never, ever, ever give your account or I.D. & password information of any kind in response to an e-mail. No legitimate organization will ever ask for it that way. None. Not ever.
