I've gotten the HS back together on the 1950 Claud Butler (Allrounder or Avant Coureur, we still aren't sure which) Also, the bottom fixed cup has wrench flats,

The 48 Catalog list/shows a Polygon headset (code # c37,10) standard on models 1,2,6,7,8,and 25

is this the headset you are talking of,shows a h/s with polygon cups top&bottom?

Finally what was the range of chainrings available for the old circa 1950 cottered steel cranks? The CB has a French-made Duprax.

Can't say about Durax , but williams 3 pin came 32 to 52 (that I know of)

. Are Claudes not popular in the States?

"In the states Clauds are one of the hottest collectables of the golden era of British lightweights"That's a correct statement ,only problem is those that collect Golden era Brit bikes are a very small group. But of the L/W bike collectors that have moved(discovered the 50s)to earler bikes ,the Claud Butlers are the ones they seem to be finding. There are several on this list re-building CBs.I'd also add that it's been the work of P.C.Kohler and those doing the brit tours on our side and the help given by Mick Buttler , Norris Lockley and others that had made the connection to these bikes so popular _______________________________________________
