"Peter,

Cinellis were made in lots of variations to meet lots of needs. Winter training might require fenders for instance. "

No... I mean I know why you'd use mudguards... winter training (when you also get to wear those great plus-fours and harlequin pattern sweaters a la Coppi!) but just curious as to why Cinelli made their own mudguards. I have a hunch it was just because no Cinelli owner would want some nasty generic 'guard on their machine. But nope my Cinelli stays warm and dry by the fire when it's nasty outside.

Actually, from my experience Italians are mudguard crazy... they cycle mostly for practical reason and all their machines including the distinctive Italian "city bikes" Bianchi still make have them. If you've ever been in Milano in late November you'll appreciate why.... "sunny" Italy it ain't!
