Chuck

In my posting I mistakenly attributed one of the sayings of Monkeyman to an unnamed British listmember. Here is his CR list posting that I had in mind:

In countries such as Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand, grass track racing was an integral part of the racing calendar. While a rider might not buy a pair of pedals especially for grass track, they might make a purchasing decision with grass track in mind.

Here in New Zealand, Doug Hill, who imported Bertin frames, told me that he used to order Bertin track frames with extra clearance for fat grass track tyres. It would have been unusual for a rider to have had a specific grass track bike, so equipment choices would be made accordingly.

My 2c worth.
