If McMASI's were made in Ireland ---
1. Eddy Mercx started out as an irish racer on a McMASI, later Raleigh *snicker* 2. Dennis Christopher spoke with a thick Irish Accent in "Breaking Away" 3. The bikes were period correct with pre-1976 campagnolo componentry
4. McMASI lugs were cut-out with 4-leaf clovers 5. Luminous green was the #1 color for McMASI 6. Liam McMASI signed the top tube of every bike 7. The workmanship and lugs and badging was more or less the same
Then I think the bikes would still go for $1000 - $3000 as they seem to go today.
Note that items #1 and #2 are unique, and #3 cannot be duplicated today. There seem to be literally hundreds of italian (and some american) bikes with qualities like #4-#7, and none of them seem to command the prices of a MASI (or McMASI) today.
I would say though that MASI was an early brand to sign the top tube, item #3, and there is merit in being first to do something cool.
