It looks pretty original to me. I have a Five Star from the same period (actually 1947), with really bad rust, but the details are very similar. The pin-striping in particular looks pretty much identical. I'd suspect they were both done by the same person

Mine cost me nothing, however, as I found it on a rubbish-heap. I can see that I have a lot of time and expenditure to go before it's suitably restored.
