I guess I wasn't clear. Sorry. Fully understand the wheel base measurement issue. What I meant is that though I target the imaginary line when setting, I never understood why this is technically relevant. The nominal wheel base design is one thing for convention purposes. Why? When the wheelbase specification of a frameset is given, this is the place the measurement is taken from, a convention based on how a frame designer/builder planned it. If you think its a wives tale, then I can't help any further.
