"My 56cm 74 has a 10cm AVA. I wouldn't be surprised if the owner swapped stems for fit reasons. Is your Pivo exceptionally short or long for the frame's size? Otherwise, it could have been a bike boom parts shortage, which perhaps is why your bike and Jerry's have Super Champions instead of Mavics."

No, Ed... the Pivo is just the standard size. I suspect you're right about this being the result of some component foraging at the Peugeot factory as were the Super Champion rims. I don't know who made the bars and I guess ignorance is bliss. But I'm not complaining, it's all good Gallic stuff and another example of "specs are made to be fiddled".

Last night, one of the jockey wheels on the Simplex derailleur just literally fell to pieces.. what were we saying about the perils of plastique? I've been told that Suntour jockey wheels fit Simplex. Anyway, better than happening on the road. The cat batted the bits around the floor for a good 10 mins so don't tell me these are irreplacible! She's also very good at finding those forever lost tiny little Bluemel mudguard stay nuts.
