Not seeing this subject broached since I've been on the list, I've wondered how others handle this problem:
I'm debating on what to do with the original sew-up wheels that came with some of my vintage bikes. For the casual riding I do, I prefer the advantages of clinchers. I prefer not to spend hundreds for a spare set of nice clincher wheels with Campy hubs (as I can sometimes buy an entire vintage bike for this amount). Yet, I hesitate to destroy perfectly good original wheels by converting them to clinchers. As a consequence of this dilema, the sew-up equipped bikes don't get ridden, which is perhaps the greatest loss.
