This Masi project of mine has a surprise, mostly ugly, at every corner. So much for a "bargain".

"Shorty" seat post- ouch!

Stripped cable bolt replaced on front derailleur- ouch.

Stripped adjustment bolt on wrong rear derailleur- ouch.

Bulge at bottom of scratched stem- ouch.

Mismatched crank arms- ouch.

Cross threaded dust cap- you guessed it, both crank threads marginal. How the heck do you do this on a crisply threaded Campy crank. Ouch.

Super Record BB- what? Newer style with nuts. When did these come out? I guess this bike is a 1975.

Goofy multi-colored Modolo Pro calipers w/ Dura-Ace levers- Gotta go.

Dura-Ace headset- gotta go.

Suntour freewheel- gotta go

Uniglide chain- give me a break.

The good news is that Brian and crew built nice frames. The alignment, brazing, BB mitering (perfect) are all really impressive. I can't imagine the Italian Masis were quite as good.

Touched everything up with my new Cyclus frame tools and I really like them.

Campy headset is now installed and the frame is happier already.
