Like a lot of modern bikes my '56 Peugeot PLX-10 has slotted TT brazed-on stops for the brake cable. I say they got it exactly right, so why would the subsequent millions of Peugeots made since have (inferior?) clamp-on guides or unslotted braze-ons?
I notice lots more braze-ons on 50s bikes (shifters, cable guides/stops, pump pegs), and many builders and constructeurs NEVER did the clamp-it-on thing....
Is there anything to the 60s/70's dogma that braze-ons add unnecessary heat?
Jack Bissell loving the look of clamped-on bits but doesn't understand their reason to exist in Tucson, Az
