Hi Bruce!
Welcome to the list!................41t rings I only seen a one here or there!..............And I know why! One day I was visiting an old Campagnolo dealer! We we're going through his offering of which is quite a lot!...........Now we are not talking about a one car garage or anything like that, we are talking about an old fish canning factory with 3 halls and this not including the main quarters along with a basement! There's also stuff stored in the bomb shelter at the old train station accross the street! This is where he asked, what do you thnk about these, he grabbed a hand full and said can you sell them! HE SAID! I never knew they were made until just recently! He tossed them down like someone tossing out feed to the chickens! I saw that and I said ''OUCH!''.................They were 41t NR rings!......When we left! He tossed me the keys to his operations and said have fun, I'll see you on Sunday and I'll drive you to the airport. I had this place to myself for the whole weekend!.............For sure I was like a kid in the candy store.
BTW: When first visiting this jolly old fellow, he sat me down and laid a 2 liter bottle of warm Pepsi in front of me and said drink. No cup just a the bottle, he picked his up and gave it a good gulp! Grabbed a pastry as like a prepackged Dolly Madison ''BEARCLAW!'' and with one bite it was gone! Grabbed another and the same thing! WOW!.......This guy can eat.......While on the plane making ready to visit this dealer, I sat next to another guy as like the bike dealer! During the duration of the flight I had to sit sideways, this guy was huge!.....Yes we were sitting in Economy! He's an oil rigg worker and was on his way home after 4 weeks of working in Saudi. For sure I wasn't going to mess with this guy!............But then again h wanted to kill the loud American that was sitting in back of us!............I just took it in until we landed...............Then he invited me to some lunch but politely said no thanks then off to the bike stuff I went.

> My name is Bruce Rinnert & I just joined/was admitted to the list. I have
been enamoured with lightweight bikes since the 1960s (yep, another old
fart). Really got involved in the 1970s in Missoula, Montana which was a
very kewl cycling center at the time - learned mechanicing and frame
building. My greatest accomplishment & honor was being asked to work with
Sam Braxton in his frame shop; greatest bike owned (and there have been
many) is a Cinelli Super Corsa my wife got for me second hand. Anyway I
have been working with and fondling Campagnolo parts for a long time which
leads me to the following query: I just came across a chainring which
appears definitely to be made by Campy and it has 41 teeth - only markings
are a 'C' within a diamond (a known Campy logo) and "41" - the Campy time
line reports that in 1968 when they went to the 144 crank pattern they
offered a 41 tooth ring. All through the 1970s we could not get them, I've
never seen another, 42 being the smallest available. My guess is Tullio and
his wizards were never satisfied with the way the cut recess for the fixing
bolt bushing showed a reveal at the top & was inherently weakened and so
they quit making 'em. (& yeh, I know about the knockoffs with 41 teeth & own
a couple). Anybody out there know more?
