Subject: [CR]Movie: "The Middle of the World"

I saw 2 screenings at the New Directors/New Films festival at the Museum of Modern Art last night.

One of the films is "The Middle of the World": about a poor family of 7 (mom, dad the kids from about 1 year to 14 years) set out from their small village of Paraiba on the northeast coast of Brazil and travel across the equator to Rio de Janeiro in search of work, a distance of over 2,000 miles...

...by BICYCLE.

The film is the 1st work by a new director, of uneven quality, but with 2 of the top stars in Brazilian cinema and worth seeing.

Commercial distribution scheduled to roll out in April in major US cities, HBO later in the year.

No, they were not riding Campy-down Colnagos.
