Ah, see: another set of dark coloured brakes. It is puzzlement !

I have a set of Equipe - work very well on the Basso.

As you look at them from the front the left side of the caliper says Master Pro in script letters; the right side says MODOLO in capital block letters. Pretty cool looking but the bike that has them has not been built up so I have not had an opportunity to try them. That's all I know, other than these replies I received when I recently inquired about them via the CR list:

"Mid 1980's. They were also sold with Mavic labeling as the first-generation SSC brake. David Feldman Vancouver, WA"

and

"Anyone know how mant generations of Mavic brakes there were? I know of the non-aero Modolo Master Pro Mavics, the aero Modolo Mavics, and the Dia-Compe aero Mavics. There also seem to be some modern dual pivots which Mavic calls SSC. Did Mavic ever make brakes themselves? I think maybe the first two generations are on topic.Jerry Moos, Houston, TX"

and

"I think those were early-mid '80s. Nice, aren't they?Cheers, Duane Kennard"

and

"I am sticking with 78 through 84 unless someone corrects me. cheers- dave in mt"
