I heard they started with the slant parallelogram design but abandoned it to be different and this resulted in the last generation (There were 2-3 generations) being worse shifting. All seem to be relatively desirable to collectors. Some still aren't pleased with the slant parallelogram ones but others report these can be very nice. I developed the interest wanting a period correctt replacement for my SR that could not handle a wide range rear. Rally can do it or tricked out SR with Rally cage can.. Several listmembers discussed their sucsess with this in a past thread while others would reather a wide range Suntour or even Shimano crane.I like the look of the Rally myself.

That's the cheaper Rally. It's a truly awful derailleur. The other distinguishing feature is that the pivot bolts take a 13mm box end wrench, rather than a 6mm allen like the good Rally. I don't remember which came first. But I became aware of the good one before the bad one. I ordered some of the bad ones thinking it was just a slightly cheapened version of the good one. Big mistake.

Okay, here's another one I've got a question or two about. I have a Campagnolo Rally derailleur - looks somewhat similar to an N. Record but with a long cage. Every other Rally I've seen is more along the lines of the slant para. body (is that the right terminology - where the body of the derailleur is turned 90 degrees, like modern derailleurs) - this one isn't. Is this an earlier, rarer, less rare model ? Is it considered a decent one ? I looked in the Archives but it wasn't clear to me always which model of Rally I was reading about.
Thanks,
