I just wonder what I've been doing for the past 30 years or so. I thought I
was pumping my tires with my Silcas but I guess I was wrong. Sure seemed like
I
was pumping my tires, though.

Catagorical statements like that make me cranky in San Rafael, Calif
My apologies Phil, I dislike categorical statements too... instead of
speaking in generalities, I should have just realated my experiences from the three
frame pumps I've owned: One white Silca split up the side, one red Silca blew
off the end, one blue and silver Zefal (older style non-HP) is still working,
since 1975, even after "persuading" more than its fair share of dogs.
