When there's a bike for sale, offers are sought, and some do-gooder decides to tell the owner that their bike/part is worth some huge amount of money, but said do-gooder is not willing to *pay* that for said item. That really rubs me the wrong way. Now the seller has what is very likely an inflated sense of what their stuff is worth, and I have to try to put him or her back in touch with reality in the course of negotiations. I've had this happen to me more than once, and I must confess, *that* is very annoying. --------------------------------------------------------------- Charles- I have see this thing happen before as well, but will an additional weird twist. Only this didn't involve a "do-gooder", rather a "genuine bike-collector" as the "confident" neophyte seller claimed. In this case, I walked away from a Campy wheelset at $150 because the seller claimed that the "dependable" bike collectors told him that the wheelset was worth $300. Of course the seller couldn't get $300, $200 or even $150 from anyone for 3 months. At this point, the "genuine-dependable" bike collector bought the wheelset for $125. Go figure. The good news is that i know for a fact it was nobody on the CR list. cheers-
