Subject: [CR]mechanical help: chain breaking this time

I need help in how to break (separate) a chain. I believe the chain is an inch-pitch from a BSA track bike from the 1930's or 1940's. I have attempted to separate a link with the two following tools, neither of which works to separate it: cyclo cheapo with the T-screwdown, and a VAR pliers breaker. Neither tool can budge it. I cannot tell, nor do I have the measuring equipment to gauge, whether the pins in the chain are so small that the pins in the chain link removers can't fit through, or whether there is a special tool to break such a chain. The pins appear slightly smaller than "normal" chains have. They also appear more like rivets than normal chains.

Any who have encountered this problem and solved it, I'd sure appreciate and like to hear the solutions. I want to use the crank, track hub, and chain on another bike, but I have no other chain that will work on the teeth of the two wheels.

Thank you.

Cheers.
