Subject: [CR]Mavic SSC Brake reach

I just tried to rob the Mavic SSC brakes - these are the dark grey anodized Modolo-made nonaero ones - off my newly acquired Vitus 979 to put on my almost all Mavic mid-80's Mercier Bordeaux-Paris. This had later aero Dia-Comp made Mavic brakes. The short reach of the aero brakes has forced me to use non-Mavic 27" wheels on the Mercier, but I hoped that the SSC calipers would allow me to use 700C Mavic wheels. Unfortunately, the SSC calipers have a reach no longer than the Dia-Compe made calipers. Does anyone know if the SSC calpiers came in different reaches? Or were these Modolo-made nonaero calipers all the same short reach? If they are all the same, the only "tout Mavic" solution for the Mercier is to build up a pair of Mavic 27" wheels. Anyone have a pair of Mavic 27" rims to sell, ideally at Cirque? Also still looking for a 700C dark anodized Mavic MA40 clincher rim.
