aw - bullocks to that.
i coined that phrase in the 80s as an act of defiance against
all the model names the magazines were asking us to submit
for their inane "buyer's guide" issues. it got into print along with
some of my other fav chestnuts: Strada Immaculata, Piccolo Ricardo,
Signature Menachem, and of course the Sumgai.

(from fountain pen collectors FAQ:) "What's a Sumgai? A Sumgai (pronounced "Some Guy") is a term frequently used for someone that got a great deal on a pen they found. Like finding a pen worth $100 in a shoebox full of wooden pencils at a Flea Market and the seller asked $5 for it. Because you beat someone else to it, your a Sumgai. This term also came from the fact that often times you go someplace and ask if the have any fountain pens and the seller says... I did but the other day "Some Guy" came in here and bought them all."
Sounds pretty familiar.
