Many thanks to Raoul and all who answered, for your suggestions. I was looking for French threaded pedals for my Peugeot PX 10 that were wider than the Lyotard 45's that came on the bike. I have a used pair of the Marcel Berthet platform pedals, but they are English threaded. Last night I had a brainstrom that the axles might be the same as the Lyotard 45's . I dissected the pedals, and sure enough they are identical. I switched axles (takes about an hour and a half, including toeclips, straps, etc.), and installed the now French threaded Marcel Berthet's on the Peugeot. When it stops raining in NYC I'll take it out for a ride. This information (interchangeability of the axles on the pedals) might be useful, since French threaded Berthet's are rare.

+++++++++++++++++++ Last year I did a similar swap for a fellow-list-member, but want to note that when I had three Berthet pedals open and the axles side by side, there were at least two non-interchangeable spindle lengths! Business end: bearing face to threaded end, not overall. I don't fault Lyotard much for this; after all, the model was produced for a very long time. I can imagine some redesign at some point, just to remedy the parts proliferation. In addition to the French/English difference, I distinctly remember that they came with long threaded shafts for aluminum cranks and shorter ones for steel cranks. So, two mirror pedal types (L & R) x 2 thread types (Fr & other) x 2 pedal thread lengths = 8 spindles before you even get into the non-interchangeability I found.

Josh, you must have been living right.
