I think the reality will be that 1st generation Super Record will still be the most highly sought after classic parts in 20 year's time.

My opinion as to what collectors should actually be looking for? Mavic's SSC group. It's esoteric and weirdly different, was used by Sean Kelly (leader of peloton for 10 years) and Greg Lemond (8 second 1989 TdF victory, closest ever), works great (sealed bearings everywhere, retrofriction, adjustable cage derailleur), and it's FRENCH (probably has something to do with why it's weirdly different)!

I bought my Mavic stuff when nobody wanted it, so I'm not too concerned about outing it ;)
