Well, it is history...

What a weekend!

Once again, it included great friendships begun and sustained, elegant bicycles viewed, stimulating discussion carried on and hearty laughter enjoyed.

The awards were as follows:

At the Banquet, the Annual Mike Richardson Memorial Classic Rendezvous Vintage Bicycle Award went to Michael Kone of Boulder Colorado, for, among other things, his early and earnest pursuit of our hobby in his Bicycle Classic business, his Vintage Newsletter, his historical panorama display at VeloSwap, his crucial involvement in the Larz Andersen Show, his personation at the 2002 Cirque and his continuing interest in and love for fine vintage bicycles. He was the organizer of this years Cinelli display at the Cirque.

On Sunday, there were 119 bikes on display and chief judge Maurice Bresnahan and a cast of thousands of judges (just kidding) made the following (difficult) choices:

Best Italian: Cinelli track bike... owner John Barron, St. Paul, Minn. Best North American: Blinked custom by Simon Firth, Philadelphia, PA Best British: Imperial Petrel...owner, Michael LeBron, NYC Best French: Raymond Valance tandem... owner Paul Lee, New York Best Original: Cinelli track bike... owner, Peter Johnson, Redwood City, CA Best Restoration: Cinelli SC...... owner, Scott Ramsay Best Paint: Baylis custom track by Brian Baylis, La Mesa, CA Best Antique: Bianchi City Bike....owner, Curtis Anthony, Philadelphia, PA Most Personality: Schwinn... owner, David Perry, NYC Best in Show: Cinelli B ......owner, Charles Andrews, CA

And the votes were counted to name the... People's Choice Award: Weigle custom Randonneur frame by Peter Weigle.

I am still replaying so many enjoyable parts of the weekend but I must thank our guest "presenters" who informed and entertained us all so expertly (in "ladies first and then alphabetical" order) ; Taliah Lempert, artist and cyclist, Bill Boston, builder and fit expert, Patrick Brady, Asphalt magazine, Richard Schwinn, Waterford bicycle builder and John Slawta Landshark bicycle builder.

Thanks also to Chris Kostman for his excellent photo coverage already up on his web site here: http://www.adventurecorps.com/chronicles/2004cirque01/index.htm (mapped)

Watch for announcements soon about the 2005 event!!

Thanks again! You folks are the greatest!
