Folks, I couldn't keep up with all the great cleat info I was getting to thank everyone in person. So if y'all don't mind, this is a thanks to everyone.
The summary, if you all missed it, is to try yellow jersey for cleats, and it does look like they have a lot of em (www.yellowjersey.org) I think, a good site to check out if you don't know it. But the basic advice was to not walk in my cleats so they don't wear out.
And for setting them, ride without them to set a mark in the sole, and let a cobler then mount the cleat there. When you ride, put a few wraps of tape on the toe clips so that there will be a gap when the cleat is set. Nails have to be put in on an anvil or equivalent so the ends bend.
Again, thanks for all the advice. It is a lost art I would say, and I am excited to try it out! Thanks again to all Dan Kasha in SLC Utah
