Mes amis,
C'est facile - this eBay bike is a PGN-10. By the way,
there is a really good chance that it has a Swiss threaded
fixed cup. Mine did and several Px-10 and Pxx-10 variants that
I've worked on over the years have had Swiss threaded fixed
cups. It's not just a Motobecane thing. My assumption for
seemingly stuck French fixed cups is that there's a 50/50
chance the cup is Swiss theaded. Anyway, Peugeot seemed to use
them on numerous occasions. For what reason I do not know.
Due to parts shortages? Merely to keep life interesting. I'm
convinced we'll never really learn the answer.
But back to that PGN-10. The Reynolds 501 frames are
actually pretty light - as light as frames made from say
Columbus SL. The forks on the PGN-10s were very heavy, though,
as if they expected you to buy a bike and immediately enter
Paris-Roubaix.
Best regards,
Fred
