Coppi crashed with Armando Peverelli on the slopes of Primolano during the 9th stage of the 1950 Giro d'Italia, suffering a triple fracture of his pelvis (blind in one eye since a horrible crash in the 1949 Tour de France, Peverelli couldn't see Coppi passing him on his right side).
