Well, having just received my 2004 Malibu... %^)
But of course, the key word here is 'cruise'. Knowing many car enthusiasts around here, it's a hobby to find, restore, tinker and show off their finds. I can explain my bicycles by comparing them to their cars. While they don't drive their Rolls, Ferrari or Harley every day, it's a special treat to open up the garage, pull it out and cruise.
It's the same with watches, guns, and many other things that are collected.
A modern "whatever" doesn't have the class of an old "whatever", but if you're using it everyday it's less hassle to use, does more with less, and it's of a heartbreak to trash it and get another. - the collectors concession.
