CINELLI GOLD HANDLEBAR END PLUGS NOS $8 a set

EVEREST GOLD SLOTTED 3/32in CHAIN NOS NIB beautiful difficult to find ideal for 5 and 6-speed transmissions. 1970s/80s. $30

CYCLING PLUS - two early copies of Cycling Plus, issues 12 and 13. These contain a two part feature on restoring classic bikes (6pp in one issue and 5pp in the other) written by me when I was Technical Editor of Cycling Plus. A 1949 Bates Cantiflex is restored. In C+12 thereĀ¹s also a test on three custom steel bikes made by Chas Roberts, Dave Yates and Dave Lloyd and a fantastic expedition to the Himalayas feature in C+13. 82 pages each. The pair $20

KING OF THE ROAD by Andrew Ritchie - excellent rare hardback copy of the King of the Road by Andrew Ritchie and published in 1975. This is a wonderful history of cycling (perhaps the best) and bicycles despite one or two small errors - it has some really great photos not published elsewhere and is very readable. 192 pages $40

STURMEY ARCHER 4-SPEED FM GEAR - excellent example of a Sturmey Archer FM 4-speed medium ratio gear - this was one of the Sturmey Archer hub gears from the 1950s that was used in England by many club cyclists. It has an aluminium alloy shell in excellent condition - the spoke holes are not enlarged or distorted and the shell is in beautiful condition though the engraving is rather faint. It has 40 spoke holes. The FM is the medium ratio 4-speed hub gear offering gears 12.5% above direct drive and 14.3% and 33% below direct drive. This is a really nice range. A typical gear range would be 48in, 62in, 72in and 81in. The innards of this gear have been carefully inspected and are in perfect working order - in the 1980s I was one of the the very few recomended by Sturmey Archer to service their obsolete gears so I do know what I am doing. It has obviously not had a lot of use - when inspected wear was only very light - only the driver, high gear clutch and right cone needed to be replaced. $120 I can supply the rest of the parts if needed - trigger, cable, top tube stop and seat tube roller.
