That is a neat trick to remove them but I agree with Chuck here..... It's easier to get em out than back in neatly. And each time (the first time often) you remove the dust cap, it starts to wallow out the interface, making the dust cap more likely to loosen or need to be pushed farther in to re-set. Better leave them in place and just use a soft rag and solvents to clean up under the edges.
