Those of you who went to le cirque may have seen the white 1970 Legnano with red trim that Chuck Schmidt rode on one of the rides and that I had at my table on the swap day.
This bike is for sale.
It is a 55 cm seat-tube x 55 cm top-tube C/C frame, equipped with Universal super 68 brakes and for the rest all Campagnolo Nuovo Record components. The bike also comes with old style bolted Cinelli 100 mm 1/A stem and old style Cinelli Campione del Mondo bars in the highly sought after 42 cm width C/C or 44 cm outside to outside. If these bars are too wide for you, I would be more than happy to switch them out for a NOS, still in the Cinelli sleeve, set of old logo 38 cm Giro D'Italia bars. The chainset is set up with 53/42 chainrings. The seatpost is a shorty 130 mm length common to almost all Italian bikes at the time. The saddle is a newer buffalo leather Selle San Marco Rolls (which I could switch out with a Brooks pro if so desired.)
The bike has the Legnano seatlug bolt placement in front and below the lug. It also has chromed headlugs, fork crown, fork ends, and the last about 6" of the chain and seatstays. Furthermore, it also has the very uncommon Campagnolo vertical rear dropouts! The bike is particularly light for its time, on my bathroom scales it weighed in at about 21 lbs (just under 10 kg). It is obviously not a run of the mill Legnano.
I can send photos to anybody who is interested. Price $1000.
