isn't this really at the core of all the timeline interest and
collecting-slash-archiving that occurs among CR listees...
at what point does anyone define when a brand is "real"
or not? in the case of the rossin built pogs, i say they're
"real" if rossin owned the rights to the name. the intrinsic
value i assign to this and like-branded other names
whose frames have been built "off site" is different:
emotionally, i think it's only "real" if it was built at the shop
by workers connected to the namesake. intellectually, i think
it's all "real".

snipped: <dirk.feeken@sap.com> writes: As Dale already said, this is a Basso made Pogliaghi. While the Rossin made ones were just relabeled mid class bikes without any connection to the real ones, Basso at least tried to build replicas with some Pogliaghi characteristics. The decals are similar to the old ones but more important is the flat fork crown and round fork blades, very different to the normal Bassos or any other bikes of the late 80s. I see them in the same league as Merckx Molteni replicas and Bob Jackson made Hetchins'.
