True, but the cadences are different. In a furious sprint out of the
saddle, you notice weight up high on the bike. And it is indeed
noticeable. When climbing out of the saddle because you have run out
of gears, you don't rock the bike so rapidly that a pound or two at
handlebar level will make a difference.
I will _not_ venture to say that the popularity of lightweight
saddles stems from the same principle... although it is noteworthy
that handlebar bottlecages started to disappear around the same time
as lightweight saddles became popular (roughly 1960-65?).
