Mavic produced their ZAP (one P not 2) derailluers and shifters in the early
to mid 90's.
Supossedly quicker and quiter shifting was the reasoning behind it. Also,
you could splice the wires and put multiple shift buttons in different
locaitons, say for example, on tri bars and another set on the tops.
