I disagree Tom, when it spills onto the list, and its someone in an area I may consider a group ride with, it IS on topic, as far as my desire to ride with bike-minded folks is concerned. I'll think twice about planning to spend half my weekend on a ride with CR people...for all I know the same putz who'd spew that stuff online (whether we agree or not) could show up at a ride and prove to be a chatterbox that I have no interest in listening to for a coupla few hours. Whether such an experience is likely or not, isn't the point...I avoid that type of talk like the plague...ironically you can guess how pleased I was to receive YOUR note.

\r?\n> Way off topic and should have been addressed to Mr Palo alto
\r?\n> directly.

\r?\n>
\r?\n> Working within the system does not always work. That is why we are in
\r?\n> the
\r?\n> mess we are in now- the democrats didn't want to rock the boat, and
\r?\n> voted to
\r?\n> support the president last March. Now they say- wait a minute- we
\r?\n> were
\r?\n> fooled by bush. Well Duh!
\r?\n> The civil rights act in the 60's to restore blacks voting rights (a
\r?\n> second
\r?\n> time) was brought about not by asking nicely and being patient. The
\r?\n> patience
\r?\n> was worn thin over the previous 100 years. Discontent was brewing
\r?\n> for years
\r?\n> outside the normal channels of 'acceptable dissent'. For example,
\r?\n> Rosa Parks
\r?\n> was not a little old lady acting by herself- there was a large
\r?\n> mobilization
\r?\n> of churches and other community groups acting independantly of the
\r?\n> city
\r?\n> council and local cops. This pushed the envelope in the correct
\r?\n> direction
\r?\n> and was very effective in changing popular opinion.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> See you on the ride, unless of course you're a little scared of some
\r?\n> raging
\r?\n> whatever the hell you think we ares
