For new attendees, this subject of tubular tape has been discussed at length here, and one can check through the dusty archives. The Velox brand appears suspect and there are horror stories (the poor guy who ended up entwined in the barb wire fence), but the Tufo brands are a great product. You can't go wrong with the "extreme" type. Just because we like to ride "heavy" lightweights compared to modern standards, doesn't mean that there isn't room for making life a little easier. Some weeks ago I mentioned what I consider the coolest modern addition to vintage bikes, leather brake hoods and their maker that I had discovered at the Japanese auction. Only one list member picked up on it, and his biking experience is going to be enriched as a result. "Old fashioned ordinary" is a great and worthy concept, but the addition of a little modern "twist" is fun too.
