F.A. would more likely appear on a French FW, denoting Files Anglais - English Thread.

The backside of freewheels could be marked: no marking: italian one ring: english threads two rings: french

FI: Filettare (to thread or filet).

I know that "I" could also mean Inglese, but I recall that they had another code, possibly F.A. The more I exercise my brain, tho, maybe it was Inglese, with no marking remaining Italian.

Capito?
