A thousand pardons, I beg! for omitting my sign-off, which I just noticed (ie no one called me on it ;-)

Should have read: Dennis Ryan Louisville, KY

What about the Stronglight 49D (or whatever) -- aren't there cotterless alloy Stronglight cranksets that predate the Pro 5 Vis by many years, but use the same chainrings? The TA "Cyclotouriste" chainrings predate the TA arms, don't they? The Data Book seems to show similar cranks for 1950, but of course there's no caption, just what looks like a rendering of the Stronglight logo. Viewed at 300X, the picture in question suggests a Stronglight pattern on the arm, but then I'm only speculating because it's too dark to be sure.

Maybe this: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/ta/timeline.html. It says the TA Pro 5 Vis was introduced in 1963.
