Ah! The reason I left RoadRunner (which I didn't actually get around to
doing until recently) was that so many legitimate messages had failed to
get to me. I'm on several lists and I'd often see replies to postings I
hadn't seen.

My bad. I've unsubbed from plenty of lists, so I should have noticed the
lack of a confirmation message.

I do have cookies enabled, but I use Opera for a default web browser. Some software can't tell that you have them on unless you use Netscape or Explorer.
IIRC Another thing that can get in the way of unsubscribing is if you have changed the "Return Address" in your email program since subscribing.
