Hi All, I have an original 1953 Gillott Continental with the early Campag ends. The adjuster screw diameter is 3.7mm, with a simple slot cut in the end. I.E. no end cap. You can see these larger diameter adjuster screws in the No11 "Cognin" catalogue, a copy of which I sent to Chuck for repro a couple of years ago. This must date to 1951 or 52.
Cat,.No 12 is dated 1953 and the smaller screw dia,. with end cap is shown. So the adjusters were reduced from 3.7 to 3.0mm probably due to breakages across the screw hole. So Tom, check your adjuster screws' diameter. If they are 3,7 mm you have the early type and they are certainly original.
