Subject: [CR]Intro. & Velo-Retro Request

Hi,

I've been lurking here for a couple of years, without much to contribute, but enjoying the discussions and soaking up the knowledge. I'm just a young 'un, 44 this year, and I'm in business importing & distributing bicycle parts. Being once the farthermost reach of the British Empire, the classic bikes here tend to be of English origin, which is why my humble collection consists mainly of old Raleighs, Carltons, etc. and one or two other more local road bikes. There's not much of any continental exotica to be seen here.

Being in the bicycle industry, I've been attending Interbike for many years and have wanted to attend Chuck's Velo-Retro, and this is the year that it happens, which I'm very much looking forward to. So I'm arriving stateside Wed. Sept. 29 in San Franciso (due to a bargain flight deal from NZ), and rather than booking a flight from there to LA/Burbank, was wondering if anyone from the Bay Area/NorCal who is driving south on Thursday Sept. 30 has a spare seat and would like some additional company and someone to split fuel costs with. Once in Pasadena, I'll be sharing a room at the Marriot with a couple of other NZ'ers also attending V-R, so it's just the travel I'm hoping to share.

Hardly any of you know me, but I've met Dale briefly and I talk to Chuck most years at Interbike and I'm sure he will vouch for my character (Hi Chuck!)

Regards,

David Whittam
