I recently bought some Clement "Ventoux" poly-cotton clinchers (supposedly the current top-of-the-line by Clement - made in Thailand) for < $30/ea. The "Made in Thailand" label is discreetly imprinted into the rubber - not on the Clement label. These tires have a unique feel and even sound to them !! I guess that poly-cotton is really a mid-range tubular material - but the feel of the tire material is unique.

Very high sidewalls, herringbone tread, shaped somehow like an upside down battleship, and they make a unique "squeegee" sort of gripping sound on the pathement. They get dirty very easily and attract dust like flies.

Is this an o.k. choice for a vintage 1970's bike restoration ??
