May I pick the collective brain of the list? What front and rear derailleurs would a touring bike have carried in the late forties/early fifties? I know that Cyclo Rosa chain rings offered a large range of double chain wheels but what range could contemporary derailleurs handle? Which ones worked well? Huret made a 'Touriste' but it has a somewhat flimsy look to it. Presumably its name indicates that it could handle a lot of chain slack and would therefore cope with widely differing chain rings The Brown Brothers catalogues of the period show front derailleurs by Cyclo Benelux, Simplex and Huret but they are all pictured with fairly close ratio rings.
