Subject: [CR]Pollard, UK framebuilders-any good?

Can anyone shed some light on W & E Pollard frames of Conventry? Did they have a good reputation and were the frames up to scratch quality-wise? Heres what I know about them so far:

"W & E Pollard were one of about a dozen cycle shops in Coventry in the middle of the last century that built lightweight cycles to order in a workshop at the back of the premises. "Pollards frames are always identifiable because the seat stays are not attached at their top to the seat lug but to both the seat tube and crossbar about three inches from it. This was claimed to improve rigidness. "The firm was still in business in the 1970's having relocated their shop to further out of the city centre and their workshop to Bedworth, just north of Coventry."

Thanks,
Bruce
