7-Eleven sponsorship definitely began with the 1981 season... I remember racing them that year at Superweek (Wisconsin), The Lowenbrau Series, and Red Lobster (Cincinnati). They were the newest biggest squad at the time. Davis Phinney was on the team. Steida too, I think. Steve Bauer was not... at least not in 1981, when he was still with Fred Mengoni's "G.S. Mengoni" team.
