Subject: [CR]Larz Anderson National Bike Show - Ride Report

Jack Demarest and fellow members of the Veteran-Cycle Club New England Section led the pre-show ride from the Museum grounds, touring several gems in Olmsted's Emerald Necklace, with a generous dose of unpaved surfaces: Jamaica Pond, Ward's Pond, the Muddy River, the Fenway and its Victory gardens, and the Arnold Arboretum via Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. Jack rode an A.N.T. replica of one of his circa 1900 bicycles. We were joined by riders on many marques, including Gios, Bridgestone RB-T, Centurion, and two Rivendells. Four 1950s machines proved their mettle in the woods: a 1951 Flying Scot Continental, a 1950 Maclean, a 1954 Raleigh Lenton Sports - and hats off to Scott Ebersole of the V-CC, the only person who showed a bike in the concours and forded a stream on it, his splendid Raleigh Clubman.

Congratulations to Peter Naiman and Maurice Bresnahan on a fine day at the Larz Anderson estate.
