They are referring to the fact that in those years, Colnago cranked out bikes at an amazingly high level, had sub contractors galore and thereby lost some snob appeal due to their volume production. Having said that, Colnago always used very good tubing, lugs, etc., for their labeled frames and had very high quality, relative to say other big production bikes like Raleigh or Peugeot or ?
