RD, the slick shifting all-alloy Simplex Super LJ with spring loaded upper pivot or the equally slick shifting SunTour Cyclone or Superbe with no sprung upper pivot but with the SunTour slant parallelogram. No other brand shifted nearly as well as these two. Or if you want looks and super light weight, Huret Jubilee. Didn't shift as well, but sure was pretty and about the lightest ever. FD, all the matching FD's shifted fine and looked great, so why break up the set? Shifters Simplex retrofriction, original nonslotted model with raised Simplex logo.

Cranks Zeus 2000 with factory milled and slotted arms and drilled chain rings, and Ti BB. Pedals Zeus 2000 track with Ti spindle AND plates. Zeus made more extensive and more intelligent use of Ti than Campy. But TA road or track pedals would be nice also.

Brakes CLB 2 "self-energizing" centerpulls and if you're really brave use the stock ALUMINUM (Aluminium for you Brits) brake cables.

Seat post Weyless. Hubs, what the hell Weyless as well, with the really cool QR. But Hi-E, with the non-quick release might be cool also.

Rims Fiamme Ergal. Tires Clement Criterium Seta.

Bars and stem, SR World Champion drilled center collar on bars, slotted stem, Ti bolts. But Fiamme was really pretty also. Velox plugs of course.

Saddle, Brooks Team Pro or Ideale 90. When your backside has to sit on it for thousands of miles, you just don't mess with perfection.

OK, here goes:

Wheelset: Roval w/OMAS Ti quick release Crankset: Stronglight 105bis with Stronglight Ti spindled sealed bearing BB (Stronglight 107 would be a bit more period correct but is Campagnolo NR/SR looking so let's stick with the 105) Saddle: Drilled leather Unicanator style - who made these? Seatpost: ???? Deralleurs: Mavic Brakeset: Mafac LR2 sidepull Headset: Stronglight A9 Bars: ttt Superlegerra Merckx bend (my favorite) Stem: ttt with Arnold Ti bolts
