I reckon that Joe's British Nervex-lugged frame is more likely to the product of a workshop-based builder than a factory. Just about every UK builder used Nervex lugs in the 50/60/70 period .. and then some.. If I inderstand Joe's description correctly, the bottom bracket isn't the normal Nervex model, but more likely the product of a UK producer. The Lejeune-style plated wrap-over seat-stay eyes are a feature of Jack Taylor frames, as are two-plate fork crowns and round blades. Taylor's top-eyes always seem to be a little on the crude side and the fork crowns were always fairly simple and the short point on the lower cast plate was never profiled to a fine point - they were "straight-out-of-the-box" and brazed in the condition that they arrived in.
the Taylors had quite a selection of frame parts and did mix and match at times. I only have one Taylor now but what Joe has described very much resembles my frame. When I get the chance I will check out the number. And.. oh yes the drop-outs sound familiar too
